Conspiracy Theory
Shalimar: Well, Lexa said whatever's on that plane's a major threat.
Brennan: Great. How come we never get the easy ones?

Eddie Boyle: Let me tell you, you're priviledged, baby. You just saw the real thing.
Brennan: What real thing?
Eddie: Aliens! Real live sign-in-the-woods-crop-circling-saucer-jockeying-cattle-mutilating aliens.

Eddie Boyle: The aliens! The government's been working with them for years.
Shalimar: The government?
Eddie: Yeah. In collusion with organized crime, the church, and the cast of Friends. But that's a long story.

Brennan: I had this dream the other night. There were all these lights in the sky and there were these--anyway, I walked all the way from town to be here right at this moment, and I don't know what that means.
Eddie Boyle: Classic abduction profile. Drawn to the next visitation. I'm warning you. Once you've seen behind the veil, there's no going back.
Shalimar: I think we're ready to take that chance.
Brennan: Yeah.
Eddie: Welcome to the conspiracy.

Brennan: Yeah, the guy seems a little nuts, but listen. Obviously, he knows something about what's going on here. We need to figure out what that is.
Shalimar: Honey, he doesn’t know the difference between Martians and meatloaf!

Jesse: Look, Lexa, I know it's hard. I mean, losing your brother--
Lexa: Jess, don't.
Jesse: Don't what? Lexa, I care.

Eddie Boyle: I know it's not fashionable to see the world as it is. You try to help people by simply pointing out that the country's controlled by aliens, and the next thing you know, they got you in a straightjacket pumped full of Thorazine.
Brennan: Does that happen often?
Eddie: Often enough! Let me tell you something. These alien freaks actually live among us. Yeah. They can make themselves look like us, sound like us, the whole nine yards. But there are differences. As far as I can tell, they live entirely on a diet of cow's blood and battery acid, and further evidence suggests that they are here to destroy humanity and to mate with as many earth women as they can possibly get their mandibles on.
Shalimar: Really?
Eddie: Yes, sweetie, and if I were you, I'd keep my eyes open. A babe like you is definitely anal-probe bait.
Shalimar: Okay! I think we're done here.
Eddie: Wait, listen to me. Four years ago, I was a respected journalist over at The Daily Times and I was out in the field covering an explosion at a gene research company. I took this: a guy fighting with company security. I could kick myself I wasn't closer when I took it, but there's lightning coming out of his hands!
Brennan: Lightning?
Eddie: Yeah. It's a common ET phenomenon. Yep, that photo should have won me a Pulitzer. Instead, it ruined me. Cost me my career and my...cost me my family.
Brennan: Look, there's something I should probably tell you, Eddie--
Shalimar: 'Scuse us.

The Voice: You have to stop it.
Lexa: Or not.
The Voice: What are you saying?
Lexa: I'm reassessing my future with Mutant X.
The Voice: Now is not the time to enter into a negotiation, Miss Pierce.
Lexa: I came here for one reason, to find my brother. And now that he's dead, that arrangement is over.

Eddie Boyle: The gray alien's connected to The Illuminati, who are connected to the Masons, who are connected to the royal family and they're all connected to this guy. Adam Kane.
Shalimar: Adam?
Eddie: You've heard of him?
Shalimar: No...I mean, you don't think one man's behind all this, do you?
Eddie: Kane is currently off the radar, but the word is that he's still out there working in the shadows. See, he used to be connected to an outfit called Genomex, who was hooked into the GSA and of course, they're all working for...
Brennan and Shalimar: Aliens?
Eddie: Yes!

Eddie Boyle: Remember, paranoia is your friend.

Shalimar: We have less than 12 hours to avert some kind of major disaster, and we're visiting UFO bases on the advise of some old fart in bedroom slippers.
Brennan: What's your point?

Jesse: Running away is not going to make things any better.
Lexa: No? I wouldn't have to put up with people getting involved in my affairs.
Jesse: Lexa, working as a mercenary before didn't make you happy, did it? It's not gonna be any better now if you go back to it. But I know there have been times here when you've been one of us. And that has made you happy.
Lexa: This is not what I want, Jess. I don't belong here, okay?
Jesse: So where do you belong?

Lexa: We're different, Jess. You know, when I was a kid, the only thing I ever thought about was taking care of my brother. Everything I did for Eckhart, Adam, the Dominion, was all about saving Leo. And I screwed it up.
Jesse: No.
Lexa: I didn't save anything.
Jesse: You did what you could do.
Lexa: Yeah, and I failed. You don't need me! I mean, the last person who counted on me ended up dead.
Jesse: Is that what this is about? Are you worried about us?
Lexa: No, I don't know how I feel. I just know I need to get away and figure things out.
Jesse: Look. When I first came here I was messed up too. The last thing I thought I wanted was to join a bunch of freaks in a cave. But Lexa, once I was in, I found something that I could never find on the outside. For the first time in my life I fit in. You're a part of that now.

Eddie Boyle: Brennan, I've been searching for the truth for so long. Guess I'm gonna go without knowing.
Brennan: No, Eddie. Look at me. There are aliens. We've been here all along. We're your friends.

Jesse: It was a good thing you showed up back there.
Lexa: Yeah, well you know how I hate to miss a party.
Jesse: So you gonna be staying around?
Lexa: I don't know. Just don't rent out my room yet, okay?

Art of Attraction
Lexa: One slippery navel, one sex on the beach...Oh, my personal favorite, pink pantie pulldown.
Jesse: Sounds tasty. You know, I was thinking, Lexa. Maybe you and I could go for one when this is over.
Lexa: Well, it’s a date.

Jesse: That’s not bad. It’s got definite echoes of the Byzantine empire.

Lexa: Whatever his power is, he seems to be able to counteract energy.
Shalimar: Guy looks pretty smooth.
Jesse: Very smooth. Looks like your having a hard time fighting him off, Lexa.

Brennan: Well, in case you were wondering, I have an update on your mystery mutant. Turns out he’s an international thief specializing in high end art.
Shalimar: Take a look guys, I’m throwing him at you. His name’s Randall Blake.
Brennan: Yeah, and according to his dossier, he’s quite the lady-killer. He’s made a career selling paintings and hearts.
Jesse: Well, that’s good to know, isn’t it Lex?

Randall Blake: Why don't you be a good girl and hand over the painting?
Lexa: Because I'm not a good girl.
Randall: Even better.

Lexa: Wait a minute. He thinks I’m a rival thief, right? What if I convince him to partner up and split the profits of the two paintings?
Jesse: Wait. We’re not just gonna jump into bed with this guy!
Lexa: Speak for yourself.
Jesse: Are we all taking crazy pills here?!

Jesse: Looks like Blake’s got a place here in town.
Lexa: What, is his listed in the Yellow Pages?
Jesse: No. He owns a bar downtown listed under one of his aliases: La Brasserie du Boheme.
Lexa: Looks like his love of art goes deeper than cat burglary.
Jesse: Lexa, why are you so eager to face this guy again? He tried to kill you, you remember that?
Lexa: Listen, if he had wanted me dead, he would have tried a lot harder.

Lexa: Oh, but first, I want to see your painting. Just to verify it.
Randall Blake: Okay. You show me yours, I’ll show you mine.

Brennan: Whatcha working on? Ill-ich Sef-chek. Who dat?
Shalimar: Not sure.
Brennan: First you pull the code for getting into the gallery outta thin air, and now you're looking up Russian scientists. What, can I buy a clue?

Jesse: Tell me we are not just going to hand this painting over to him.
Lexa: It’ll never leave my sight. Once I get in there, I can get a look at his painting. That way, we can get information from both.
Jesse: Yeah, but once he gets his hands on our painting, he’s not gonna need you anymore.
Lexa: I told you I can handle this.
Jesse: Yeah, I heard you. Look, I’m coming along this time. No arguments.

Jesse: So when do we move on the third painting?
Randall Blake: We don’t move on anything. I’m working here with Lexa alone. Don’t need any more baggage.
Jesse: Hey listen, buddy–
Lexa: Hey, Jesse, Jess? Just take the painting. I’ll contact you when we’re ready to move, okay?
Jesse:Yeah.
Randall Blake: Ah, don’t worry, Jess. I’ll be gentle with her.

Parrot: Good work, Shalimar.
Brennan: Well, unless you and your feathered friend here go way back, our informant knew we were gonna be here.
Shalimar: I know, but how? The only way I found him was through my feral hearing.
Brennan: He anticipated it. He definitely knows our moves. That’s how he’s able to stay three steps ahead of us. What say we check out these little door prizes he left for us? [to the parrot] Skrawk!

Lexa: A cat burglar, a bar owner, and an artist. Tell me, who’s the real Randall Blake?
Randall Blake: All three. The bar keeps me legit, the burglary keeps the doors open, and the painting...ah. The painting feeds my soul.
Lexa: And that’s important to you?
Randall Blake: The rest is just survival. Art is life.
Lexa: Oh, I didn’t realize I’d be getting a free lesson in philosophy.
Randall Blake: Are you always this cocky?
Lexa: No. I’m worse on the job.

Randall Blake: This job is about as deadly as it gets.
Lexa: You say that like it's a bad thing.

Brennan: Clean, safe, cheap fuel for the whole world. Am I stupid, or is this the breakthrough we've been looking for for the past 50 years? [Shal smirks] Don't answer that.

Brennan: Why did The Dominion lie to us in the first place, right? They said this technology could jeopardize world security.
Shalimar: Well, everything always boils down to money.
Brennan: I don’t know who to believe anymore. But I do plan on asking some questions.
Shalimar: Hey, not so fast. Lexa’s the only one with an all access pass to the Dominion.
Brennan: Well, maybe we oughtta add our name to the list.
Shalimar: No, it’s not that easy. We need access codes. I mean, calling the Dominion isn’t like picking up the phone and dialing 911.
Brennan: Well, if we can’t call them, maybe we should get them to call us.

Lexa: How many men does Slavik keep on staff?
Randall Blake: I don’t know. No one’s ever made it out alive.
Lexa: Good. I’m looking forward to being the first.
Randall: You really are fearless, aren't you?
Lexa: That's the only way to play it.
Randall: What I wouldn't give to capture that fire on canvass.
Lexa: I'll bet you would.

Jesse: Your boyfriend pulled a fast one on us.
Lexa: What are you talking about?
Jesse: He switched the paintings.
Lexa: That’s not possible.
Jesse: Oh, it is. I just re-scanned it. Now you try and tell me that he doesn’t have your head all turned around.
Lexa: You’re wrong.
Jesse: Okay, then you explain it. Because the Lexa that I know wouldn’t drop her guard for a minute for some low-life smooth-talking–-
Lexa: Let it go, Jess. I’ll get it back.

Shalimar: Sure you know what you're doing down there, babe? I mean, we can call Jesse.
Brennan: Jesse, Jesse, Jesse. Man, you know, he's not the only one with a brain around here.
Shalimar: I'm just saying, you don't exactly have a degree in electronics.
Brennan [fires up a tesla coil]: Oooo, hey, look at that! Hey, that's my diploma.

Lexa: So while we’re on the subject of trust, when were you going to tell me you stole my painting?
Randall Blake: I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Lexa: Let’s try this once again. Or were you looking for some free laser surgery?

The Voice: This was a very risky maneuver on your part. I take it Miss Pierce had no knowledge of your actions.
Shalimar: We don’t answer to her.
The Voice: Clearly. It was foolish to suggest you would reveal the formula to the world. We don’t take kindly to blackmail.
Shalimar: You lied to us. You said this was a threat to national security.
The Voice: We anticipated your response to the real nature of the technology and we told you what you needed to know to do the job.
Brennan: At least you admit that you tried to play us.
The Voice: We directed you. That’s our role. Do you have any idea what would happen if you release that formula?
Shalimar: Oh, I don’t know. The world woulld have an endless supply of fusion-free fuel?
The Voice: And the impact of that technology would cause a shift in the balance of world powers overnight. Whole enconomies collapsing, decades of war and millions of lives lost before order could be restored. Does any of that fit into the category of ‘threat to national security’?
Brennan: So you are going to bury the formula.
The Voice: We will release it when the world is ready. These kinds of changes take careful planning. The Dominion has controlled the evolution of technology for hundreds of years. This conversation is over.
Brennan: Think again. I didn’t sign on to be your puppet, so you’re gonna give us everything you know from now on.
The Voice: You’re in no position to make demands. I’ll advise you to back away slowly, as there are ten weapons sighted on you right now.

Jesse: Took you long enough.
Lexa: I did what I had to do.
Jesse: Yeah, I know. So how’re we gonna get the painting?
Lexa: Right after the job tonight. I attached a tracker to the back of his earlobe.
Jesse: How’d you do that? I don’t wanna know.
Lexa: I’m sure you don’t. Just keep your eye on his every move, all right?
Jesse: Oh, I intend to.

Lexa: I don’t do dog.

Jesse: Decades of war and millions of deaths. All for a safe non-polluting fuel.
Brennan: So what do we do with it?
Jesse: Tough decision. I know what Lexa’s vote would be, though.
Brennan: Yeah. I say we hold onto it.
Jesse: Not enough information.
Brennan: So we get it.
Jesse: Nope. We’re gonna have to give it to the Dominion. Look, I talked to Shalimar and she agrees. Right now, we’re just gonna have to trust them. But we will make a copy for here in Sanctuary, just in case.

Lexa: Little parting gift. It’s how we found you.
Randall Blake: Maybe I’ll keep it. In case you ever want to find me again.
Lexa: Oh, I’ll be back.
Randall: Really?
Lexa: Yeah. There’s a little painting over here I’m just dying to add to my collection.

Informant: Hello, Shalimar. You’ve chosen to trust the Dominion.
Shalimar: You telling me that was the wrong thing to do?
Informant: As far as I know at this point, it was the right choice.
Shalimar: Then why didn’t you tell me that to start with?
Informant: I did not have all the answers. You needed to discover the truth on your own.
Shalimar: Who the hell are you to tell me what I need?
Informant: Patience, Shalimar. You’ll find out soon enough.
Shalimar: Next time we speak, it’ll be in person.
Adam: All right. If that’s the way you want it.

A Normal Life
The Voice: There have been untraceable communications coming into Sanctuary over the past week.
Lexa: Huh. I guess Big Brother really is watching. I guess nothing should surprise me anymore.
The Voice: Sanctuary is funded by the Dominion. We look after our interests. You’re saying you don’t know the source of thses transmissions?
Lexa: No. But I’ll ask the others.
The Voice: Do that. The Council is out for blood. Don’t let it be yours.

Shalimar: Why didn't the Dominion pay the ransom?
Lexa: Because they don't respond to demands.
Brennan: Not even for their own people? They're even colder then you are.
Lexa: I'll take that as a compliment.

Shalimar: Adam? You’re alive?
Adam: It’s a hologram. It’s too dangerous for me to come here in person.
Shalimar: How do I even know it’s you?
Adam: The day we met, I found you hiding in the alley. You thought I was like the others, that I was there to hurt you. You lashed out at me.
Shalimar: But I saw you fall. I tried to save you. And Eckhart said he found your body. He had your ring.
Adam: Well, you should have known not to trust him.
Shalimar: How could you do that to me? You let me believe that you died with Emma.
Adam: Look, we all suffered when Emma died. But not being able to be with you all made it even worse.
Shalimar: You can’t just come back in here and do this to me.
Adam: Shalimar, my colleagues were disappearing, being killed. My sources told me that I was the next target. The explosion was my way out.
Shalimar: You could’ve told us!
Adam: I couldn’t! Would’ve put you in the same danger I was in.
Shalimar: What danger? From who?
Adam: I’m not quite sure yet. But signs of their activity are heating up. They might be the ones responsible for the kidnapping.
Shalimar: You said you could help us find who was responsible.
Adam: I can get you to Burstyn. He’s not what he seems to be.
Shalimar: Just take me to the bastard.
Adam: I’ll get you his address. But you have to promise me that you will go in after him alone. The others cannot know about this. My life depends upon it.
Shalimar: Don’t make me do this, Adam.
Adam: I will tell the others as soon as I can that I’m alive. But this has to be between us.
Shalimar: I can’t do this behind their backs!
Adam: Shalimar, if you want his address, you have to.
Shalimar: Can I trust you? Now?
Adam: I promise. No more lies.

Lexa: You know something about this and you’re not telling me. I'm not the enemy here, Brennan.
Brennan: I guess we should keep reminding ourselves of that.

The Voice: We need to talk.
Lexa: This isn’t a secure terminal.
The Voice: Forget the secure terminal. The council knows that Shalimar Fox helped Keith Burstyn escape.
Lexa: We’re working to get them back.
The Voice: I want to know how long she’s been involved with him.
Lexa: She isn’t.
The Voice: Are you just ignorant of what’s going on, or are you a part of it? She’s been plotting with him right under your nose!
Lexa: Look, we don’t even know what really happened, okay? For all we know, he may have kidnapped her.
The Voice: Now we both know that’s not true.
Lexa: We’ll get her back, okay? Both of them.
The Voice: Do that. There are forces hostile to the Dominion that are trying to turn Mutant X against us. They won’t hesitate to rip the team apart in the process.
Lexa: That may have already happened.

Shalimar: Sorry. I used to cut science class.
Keith Burstyn: I wish I had too sometimes.

Jesse: I don’t understand. She doesn’t have the codes to get that deep into our system.
Brennan: Somebody’s gotta be helping her.
Jesse: Yeah, but who could’ve gotten into our system? The Dominion?
Lexa: Oh, please. They wouldn’t jeopardize their own operation.
Brennan: How would you know that? You only know about the little tidbits that they throw at you.
Lexa: Well, maybe she got a little help from the inside.
Jesse: Hey, we want her back just a badly as you do.
Brennan: Okay, you know what? She did say something. She said that Burstyn was being framed.
Lexa: So far today, she’s helped a murderer escape, she stole classified equipment and kicked my ass. So forgive me if I don’t take everything she says as gospel.

Keith Burstyn: So how long have you worked with Adam?
Shalimar: About ten years. Found me living on the streets, took me in. Helped me come to terms with who I am.
Keith: He’s a good guy. Honorable.
Shalimar: I always thought so.
Keith: You don’t anymore?
Shalimar: I don’t know what to think anymore. Until a few hours ago, I thought he was dead. Everything’s so complicated now. You know, we used to have a clear mission: Help other people like us, other mutants. Clean up the genetic mess they made at Genomex.
Keith: And now?
Shalimar: I guess I’m where you were when you left. Not knowing the people I worked for, not knowing who to trust, not really having an option.
Keith: Yeah. That’s the way I felt. I did everything they asked me to do and it cost me everything. That’s when I left.
Shalimar: It’s not that easy for me. I’m a little different.
Keith: Yeah, I noticed. That’s what I like about you.
Shalimar: I’m a feral, and when I sense anything that threatens my family, I fight. I’ll fight to the death. And right now, it feels like we are up against something that’s so big, you know? Something we might not be able to walk away from. They need me right now.
Keith: Hey, you know, it’s good to care about your family. But you have to know what you need too.
Shalimar: Not that easy to just disappear.
Keith: It is. Your life can be anything you want. With anybody you want it to be with. Shalimar, if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you own yourself the chance to find out what makes you happy and you go out and grab it. You just think about that.

Brennan: You know, another person would’ve said something right about now, like, I was wrong, Shal was right?
Lexa: She didn’t have to play it the way she did.
Brennan: Why? Because you would have given her the benefit of the doubt?
Lexa: Hey, you think I haven’t? I’ve been lying to the Dominion since this whole thing started to cover her ass.
Brennan: Yeah, that’s the right thing to do.
Lexa: Look, another one of the hostages died about an hour ago. The Dominion got his hand back in a box. Do you even understand how dangerous our situation is right now? I’ve put my head in a noose for you and you’re still holding out on me!
Brennan: All right, Lex. The communications that you're interested in? Now Shal’s only told me about this, but she has been getting calls from somebody.
Lexa: Who?
Brennan: I don’t know, but the guy’s been giving her information about our missions. This thing’s got her all freaked out and I’ve been helping her through it.
Lexa: And you couldn’t tell me that?
Brennan: No, we didn’t know if we could trust the guy. And futhermore, I didn’t know if we told you, if I could trust the information wouldn’t get back to the Dominion.
Lexa: Well, you’re right. Thanks for telling me now.

Adam: You're starting to feel for him.
Shalimar: Thanks for the privacy. Man, I thought you were controlling when you were with us. You're even worse as a hologram.

Shalimar: Why’d you have to come back, Adam?
Adam: Shalimar–
Shalimar: Breeze back into my life and turn everything upside down.
Adam: Shalimar, we’ve got to find out who’s behind this. We’ve got to figure out if they’re the same people who are trying to kill me, and then your life is gonna be your own again.
Shalimar: Was it ever my own? I can’t help wondering if my life was all planned out for me before I was even born. You know, Genomex wrote it into my genes, you know, along with all that other stuff and everything that I say and do, it’s just acting out what some scientist wanted to happen.
Adam: No, no. Your destiny has always been in your own hands. We're going to make sure it stays that way.

Lexa: Where is she? She said she’d be here.
Jesse: Well, you’re not the only one who can be invisible.

Anthony Gervais: You’re too late. All you’ll have to work with is dust.
Brennan: You done twirling your moustache?

Shalimar: I can’t believe you did it again.
Adam: Well, I guess I’m good at making people disappear.
Shalimar: How could you let me believe he died?
Adam: Shalimar, I’m sorry. It was the only way. It had to be like this. Your believing he was dead was the thing that convinced The Dominion.
Shalimar: I've got too many ghosts in my life.
Keith Burstyn: Adam’s sending me into the new mutant underground.
Shalimar: You’re gonna finally get what you were looking for.
Keith: There’s still time. You can come with me.
Shalimar: You don’t know how good that sounds right about now. But I can’t leave. Not yet, anyway.

Adam: Well, thanks for making the right choices. ‘Cause you know your destiny isn’t something you’re running away from. It’s something you’re running toward. You were right to trust your instincts.
Shalimar: Trust you. I don’t know if that’s the same thing. And it scares me that I don't know the difference.

Divided Loyalties
Jesse: You wanna fill us in, or should we all break off into smaller groups?

Brennan: Man, I haven’t seen Cole since the day I joined Mutant X. I’m sure as far as he’s concerned, I dropped off the face of the earth. Yep, the good old days, huh? B&E, grand theft auto–well, that was until I moved us up to bank robbery.
Jesse: That must look good on your resume.

Brennan: So what’s taking so long with my rap sheet, huh?
Jesse: Hey, three years is a long time to be under the radar, all right? [pause] The hell? Adam’s already made you a profile. I mean, he didn’t upload it to the police database, but there it is: your mug shot and rap sheet. Looks like he made it the day you joined Mutant X. I guess he figured that if things didn’t work out for you here, you’d always have a get out of Mutant X free card, huh?
Brennan: I guess he had his doubts about me back then.

Shalimar: I think it’s a bad idea sending Brennan in there. You know the leader of that gang is a killer, and Cole is way too unpredictable.
Lexa: Brennan can take care of himself.
Shalimar: Lex, you don’t get it. Brennan used to say he and Cole were adrenaline junkies. It’s like some kind of death wish thing. I mean, they used to steal cars in the winter and race them on the lake. Brennan almost died once when his car went through the ice.
Lexa: Okay, maybe that was true back then, but Brennan’s changed.
Shalimar: What if you’re wrong?

Brennan: Adam? You son of a bitch!
Adam: You have every right to be angry, but I had to disappear for the survival of Mutant X.
Brennan: Where are you? I’m not talking to a hologram.
Adam: I can’t tell you. You’ll just have to trust me.
Brennan: What, like you trusted me?
Adam: All right, look. I always believed in your potential, but you’re right. At first I wasn’t sure that you could make it as one of the team.
Brennan: So that profile that you created, that was just a contingency plan?
Adam You could say that. It’s important that you keep my presence a secret from the others.
Brennan: I’m sick and tired of your secrets.
Adam: Your friend Cole is in way over his head.
Brennan: What, you don’t think I know that? Who you working for now, Adam? The Dominion?
Adam: No, but the Dominion is scared, and when they’re scared, they’re dangerous.
Brennan: What, you just came back to give me a pep talk?
Adam: Look, you don’t know what you’re walking into. You’ve gotta listen to me.
Brennan: No, Adam. You gave up that right the day you vanished off the face of the earth.

Shalimar: Brennan’s made contact. Looks like he’s about to get a face to face with the leader of that gang.
Lexa: Don’t get too excited there, Shal.
Shalimar: Don’t worry, I won’t.

Lexa: C'mon Jess, you're the master! I’m sure you’ll find a way to figure it out.
Jesse: Is that your lame way of buttering me up?
Lexa: Actually, I was being sincere. Just do it, okay?

Shalimar: Brennan really fried that guard. He’s still in intensive care.
Jesse: They would’ve popped him in a heartbeat. My guess is, Brennan saved his life.
Shalimar: Why are you defending him? He’s in over his head.
Jesse: I’m sure Brennan had reasons to do what he did. Shal, Brennan knew this job was dangerous when he took it.
Shalimar: Okay, so why didn’t he tell us the armored truck job was going down?
Jesse: Maybe he couldn’t.
Shalimar: You’re making excuses for him.
Jesse: He’s playing the part.
Shalimar: Yeah, a part that might get him killed.

Ethan: Yo, Static! What’re you gonna remember this time?
Brennan: The rules of engagement.

Brennan: What do you expect me to do, Adam? Turn my back on my friends?
Adam: Your friend’s already involved and it’s too late to try to protect him. Your allegiance should be to one thing and one thing only: Mutant X.

Lexa: Brennan! You’re out! Why didn’t you call me? You said you loved me.
Brennan: What’re you talking about, baby? Of course I love you. Just spending a little time with my boy, having a drink. You know you’re on the top of my list.
Lexa: List? I am not on anybody’s list, all right?

Lexa [to Brennan]: You’re a lousy kisser, you know that?

Lexa: Listen, my friend is out there putting his life on the line for what your husband started. Now I am not leaving here until you tell me everything you know.
Mrs. Hayes: He was terrified for his life. He found proof of corruption within the agency.
Lexa: That’s not possible.
Mrs. Hayes: I told him to look the other way, but he wouldn’t.
Lexa: Well, do you have any idea who he was trying to get it to?
Mrs. Hayes: I wish I did. He just said he was trying to get it to someone he could trust.

Lexa: Well, Brennan managed to destroy the disk before the buyer got away. But I’m afraid he wasn’t able to identify him.
The Voice: How could you let this happen? Our orders were very clear!
Lexa: Wait, wait. Brennan’s orders changed the moment the mission demanded it. You know, he was lucky to get out of there alive, never mind destroy the disk. Geez, it wouldn’t kill you to pat us on the back every once in a while, you know.
The Voice: Tell Mr. Mulwray the Dominion appreciates his efforts.
Lexa: There, you see? Now that didn’t hurt, did it?
Jesse: What I don’t understand: why did Brennan destroy that disk?
Lexa: I don’t know. I’m sure he had his reasons.

Brennan: I can’t believe that you were the buyer this whole time. That you hired Ethan’s crew, that you set this whole thing up.
Adam: I had to get the disk. Hayes was a friend of mine. He was killed before he could get it to me. Which is proof of impropriety high up in The Dominion.
Brennan: Did you even stop to consider for one second how many people might get caught in the crossfire?
Adam: It was never my intention. I had no idea that Ethan was willing to kill innocent people.
Brennan: And would that have made a difference? What’s on the disk?
Adam: I was hoping to find some answers. Instead I’m left with more questions.
Brennan: Well, ain’t that sweet.
Adam: You have to believe me that this was important for all of us.
Brennan: Then answer me this question. Adam, why’d you pick me? Just to test my loyalties?
Adam: You really think I would’ve put you in this position if that was ever in doubt?
Brennan: Oh, that’s a nice way of avoiding my question.
Adam: All right. I think you’re all in for tough times. I think that Mutant X is about to be tested, maybe to the breaking point.
Brennan: What, by you? The Dominion? Who?
Adam: You’ll know when the time comes.

The Age of Innocence
Lexa: Jess, what's with you? You're taking this so personally.
Jesse: It is. My grandfather was a member of the Tomcats unit.
Lexa: Really?
Jesse: Yeah. They gave him the medal of honor after he led seven attacks off Granada Island. His plane was hit by enemy fire, but he survived and spent half the night in shark-infested waters before he made it to shore.
Lexa: Wow, he sounds like quite the war hero.
Jesse: Yeah, he was. Is. So now you know why I need answers.
Lexa: Yeah. Well, I'll see what I can do.
Jesse: Thank you.
Lexa: Until then, maybe it's time you checked in with your grandpa.
Jesse: My grandpa and pa had a falling out when I was younger. I don't even know where to start looking.
Lexa: Well, maybe it's time you tried.

Adam: He's in the advanced stages of lymphatic cancer, Jesse.
Jesse: Adam, what the hell?! You're dead.
Adam: I needed you to believe that. Since the explosion, I've been in hiding. But it's important that you keep that a secret. My enemies are everywhere. I'm sure you have a million questions. Right now there isn't time. You have to trust me, Jesse.
Jesse: Trust you? Adam, you've been lying to me for a year and now you want me to trust you?
Adam: This isn't about us. This is about your grandfather.

William Kilmartin: Well, God bless America. Fo the first time in my life I don't mind being a lab rat. Who do I have to thank for this new lease on lfe?
Jesse: Right now we're still trying to figure that out, Grandpa.
William: And look at you. I can't believe it. Last time I saw you, you were six years old?
Jesse: Ten.
William: Oh, that's right. Your mother brought you by to talk about a report you were writing for your history class.
Jesse: That was a pretty big deal. Not every kid's got a war hero as a granddad, you know? You were even going to talk to my class until my dad made you back out of it.

Lexa: Mr. Kilmartin? Lexa Pierce.
William: Well, hello there, darlin'! You must work for my grandson here.
Jesse: Well, actually--
Lexa: That's right. I do.
William: Well, that's a pretty fancy plane you got there. What are you packing in that thing?
Lexa: Twin turbo jets.
William: Nifty! I've read about those.
Jesse: Yeah, my granddad was trained at Presidio.
Lexa: That's pretty impressive. Now, I heard you could fly under bridges and blow wash off clotheslines?
Jesse: Tell her, tell her.
William: Well, I pissed off a lot of housewives in my day. Not to mention a few husbands.
Lexa: Listen, Mr. Kilmartin, just to be on the safe side, we're gonna have one of our doctors come in and check you out.
William: Are you kidding? I feel like a new man. I could dance all night. Darlin'?
Lexa: Hmmm?

Jesse: Well, well, well. Is this going to be a regular thing?
Adam: Maybe. How's your grandfather?
Jesse: Pretty amazing. But somehow I suspect that you already knew that. Now, what's this all about?
Adam: It's imperative that you find Burns and destroy his research.
Jesse: Why? How is any of this a bad thing?
Adam: You'll see when you find the files on Operation Immortalis.
Jesse: According to The Dominion, those files don't exist.
Adam: That's not true.

Lexa: Jesse, this is a suicide mission. It'll never work.
Jesse: It will work.
William Kilmartin: Tell her as soon as we enter military air space, they'll start scrambling for an air assault.
Jesse: All right. Did you hear that?
Lexa: Yeah, I know. That's the suicide part of the mission.

Jesse: It's been great being with you. But I've never understood why my dad kept us apart.
William Kilmartin: Oh, don't blame him, son.
Jesse: Why not?
William: Well because you and I have been given a second chance. And you can't get back the past.

Jesse: What's this?
Brennan: The research photos taken in 1943 during the experiments of Operation Immortalis.
Lexa: This research reads like a horror novel.
Shalimar: Burns was trying to reverse the aging process by using the members of The Tomcats as human donors.
Lexa: Yeah, and he tried to transfuse their genetic vitality to transfer to others a test subjects.
Shalimar: You know the sad part? Half the men lost their lives in this experiment and then later they were listed as missing in action.
Brennan: Guess your grandfather was one of the lucky ones, huh?
William Kilmartin: I had no idea what they were doing to us. W. McGowan. My god, that's Whitey McGowan. They told me he was shot down in a raid over New Guinea.
Jesse: Grandpa, this is not your fault. There's no way you could have known what you were a part of.
William: Yeah well, the only reason I'm still here is because that bastard murdered someone else in my squadron instead of me.

Lexa: He'll be okay. He's just a little overwhelmed. It's a lot to get over, you know.
Jesse: Lexa, this isn't the kind of thing you get over. I'm sorry, but I don't get it. If The Dominion is as powerful as you say it is, then why did they allow this experiment to go on for so long before they decided to shut it down?
Lexa: Well, maybe they tried.
Jesse: And maybe we'll never know, will we?

Jesse: Adam, show yourself. It's time you filled in some blanks here.
Adam: I told you would find your answers in Burns's research.
Jesse: The Dominion let him escape, didn't they? They actually hoped he would finish what he started.
Adam: I don't have any proof, but it's possible that some people within the organization realized the potential of the therapy should it become viable. Which is why it's up to you to make sure that doesn't happen, or else people are going to die.
Jesse: How am I supposed to do that?
Adam: You've got to find Burns. Your grandfather's the key.
Jesse: You want me to use my grandfather as bait?
Adam: I never said this was going to be easy. I'm sorry.

Shalimar: You okay, Mr. Kilmartin?
William Kilmartin: I just don't deserve any of this. I have too many regrets. I wasn't the man I should've been.
Shalimar: Well, I think we all go through life wishing we could've done things a little bit differently.
William: Maybe so. I just hope it's not too late to make things right.

The Voice: When were you going to tell us about your little caper on McClarin's air force base?
Lexa: About the same time you were going to come clean about Burns's research being destroyed.
The Voice: We want all the material you stole from the facility.
Lexa: Mission was a bust. Couldn't find anything.
The Voice: In that case, I want you to use all measures necessary to locate Burns and secure his research. Do you understand?
Lexa: Perfectly. [to Jesse] Okay, you're right. Something deeper is definitely going on here.

Jesse: Adam, this is not the time to be holding out on me. Either help me find my grandfather or get the hell out of here!
Adam: I'm guessing that wherever he went, Burns's men were waiting for him.
Jesse: What're they going to do to him?
Adam: Well, they have to determine how effective the serum was in sustaining the age reversal.
Jesse: Look, according to our doctor, he's already starting to regress. What, that's not true? C'mon, Adam, you know something here. He's not dying, is he? Is he?
Adam: Jesse, there are no guarantees here. But it's up to you to make sure that Burns doesn't succeed.
Jesse: Why?
Adam: Because his discovery comes at the cost of innnocent human life.
Jesse: Fine. You help me find my grandfather and I will make sure that that never happens.
Adam: No. You cannot have it both ways. Even if you destroy Burns's research, there are others out there who are going to use your grandfather to reverse-engineer the process.
Jesse: Adam, what do you expect me to do? You expect me to let him die?
Adam: I'm expecting you to do the right thing.

Henry Burns: My God. It's as though he's been transported back from 1943.
William: And how many of our men did you murder to do this?
Henry Burns: What difference does it make? The life expectancy of a fighter pilot in those days was less than a year.
William: But they were willing to die for their country. Not for you.
Henry: Any advancement in science has its casualties. Isn't it better that a few men have to die to keep the Einsteins of the world alive?

William Kilmartin: How can you people stand back and let this happen?
Henry Burns: Save your breath, Major. You should be more appreciative. You're about to witness history in the making.
William: Go to hell.
Henry: Say! There lies the rub. By unlocking the key to eternal youth, I'll never have to go there.

Lexa: Jesse's not responding to his comlink. Why would he take off without us?
Shalimar: Well, I'm sure he feels like this is his battle. Part of me can't blame him.

William Kilmartin: That's okay, kiddo.
Jesse: Grandpa, you've gotta take it. You know what will happen if you don't.
William: No, son. This has to end here. I've already lived my life.
Jesse: Yeah, well maybe I'm just not quite ready to let you go yet.
Shalimar: I don't think that's your decision to make, Jess.
Jesse: Destroy it all.
Lexa: You heard him.
Brennan: What are you going to tell The Dominion?
Lexa: Something short and pithy. I'll be damned if anyone does this again.

Jesse: I don't know what to say.
William Kilmartin: Words are overrated. I know how you feel. Listen, Jesse, you've got to do me a favor and promise me you'll stop being angry with your old man.
Jesse: Grandpa, he was a poor excuse for a father.
William: No, Jesse. He did the best he could. He was right to keep you away from me.
Jesse: How can you say that? I mean, you were a hero.
William: The thing about heroes is that in real life, they're full of nothing but flaws. When I got out of the service, I didn't adjust real well to civilian life. Turned out to be nothing more than a selfish husband and a lousy father.
Jesse: I don't believe that.
William: Listen to me. Your dad was only trying to protect you. He wanted to make sure I didn't let you down the way I did when he was growing up.
Jesse: I understand.
William: There's something I want you to have.
Jesse: Grandpa, no, I can't take that. That's your medal of honor. You earned that.
William: So did you.

Adam: You did the right thing, Jesse.
Jesse: Is that what this was all about? Some kind of a test of trust?
Adam: Maybe.
Jesse: So how'd I do?
Adam: I think you already know.
Jesse: Am I ever going to see you again?
Adam: If the time is right.
Jesse: Typical evasive answer. I guess I couldn't have expected anything else, huh?

She's Come Undone
Shalimar: Lexa? I heard shouting, are you okay?
Lexa: Yeah, sorry. I just had a brutal nightmare. I could use an aspirin too.
Shalimar: I think one of us needs to lay off the tequila.

Lexa: Is this really necessary?
Jesse: Well, let's see. You can't remember the last three hours and you woke up covered in blood. So yeah, I'd kinda say it is. Relax. I'm gonna do a bio scan just to rule out anything internal.
Lexa: I think you just like playing doctor.
Jesse: Yeah, you wish.

Jesse: Your implant. You never did say what Eckhart used it for.
Lexa: Well, trust me, it's a non-issue. It was just a data jack. The Dominion deactivated it years ago. Maybe this was all just a bad dream...and a nosebleed?
Brennan: Doubt it. I checked out the Helix. Looks like you took her out solo a few hours ago.
Lexa: That doesn't make sense. Where'd I go?
Brennan: I can reconstruct the flight path.
Jesse: Yeah, but you can't go back there, Lexa. Not if there's any chance your nightmare was real.
Brennan: Shal and I will handle the recon.
Lexa: Yeah, now who's dreaming?

Brennan: Shal, you buying this whole amnesia crap?
Shalimar: Think she's lying?
Brennan: Who, Complexa? I mean, c'mon. When has she ever told us the whole story? I'm just saying, you know, if it was me, and I woke up covered in someone else's blood, I'm sure I'd remember what happened.
Shalimar: Well, maybe she doesn't want to remember.
Brennan: Yeah, maybe she's just trying to hide something else.

Lexa: You lied to me. You told me this thing was neutralized; someone's activating it again.
The Voice: That isn't possible.
Lexa: Really? Tell that to the five men I just butchered at Maxxlon, including Dr. Arnot.
The Voice: You need to come in.
Lexa: No.
The Voice: I can contain this for now. But once The Board learns someone's using you against us-- [Lexa cuts him off]
Adam: Don't go in.
Lexa: Am I dreaming?
Adam: I've been waiting for the right time to tell you that I'm still alive, but under the circumstances I couldn't wait any longer. Lexa, we both know what's happening to you. It's time for you to face it.
Lexa: It really is you, isn't it? Only Adam Kane would be arrogant enough to show up here after a year with advice instead of apologies. Well, you picked a lousy time to go Ghost of Christmas Past on me, Adam. You told me you would handle this and you failed. Don't you dare expect me to trust you now.
Adam: You're thinking with your anger again. That's a mistake.
Lexa: So was waiting a year to contact us.

Jesse: Welcome to Project Nine.
Brennan: The hell is that thing?
Jesse: It's a neural jack. It hijacks Lexa's central nervous system, gives somebody complete remote control over her.
Brennan: Oh, great. She's a firecracker on a good day. How're we supposed to trust her now?
Shalimar: So Eckhart did this?
Jesse: She tried leaving the GSA after what Eckhart did to her brother. That was her punishment.
Shalimar: We've got to get it out of her.
Jesse: I don't think I can. Adam worked on the problem for years, ran dozens of different extraction scenerios. In 97% of them, she died.

Lexa: Can't talk, Jess. I'm in a hurry.
Jesse: We know about Project Nine. We don't blame you. None of this is any of your fault.
Lexa: Oh. Well, thank you.
Jesse: Don't thank me yet. [locks her in the cage]
Lexa: Don't do this Jess, come on!
Jesse: I gotta. You're a weapon as long as someone's controlling you, and I can't let you out until we get their finger off the trigger.

Jesse: Can I get you anything?
Lexa: Yeah, how about out?
Jesse: I can't. Is it even worth saying I'm sorry?
Lexa: Just words, Jess. You really want to help me? Get this thing out of me.
Jesse: They attached a sensor to your implant. Any attempt to remove it, and it sends an electrical surge into your brain. Instant hemorrhage. I wish there was another way.
Lexa: Yeah, well find one. Because you know what? I'd rather be dead than someone's puppet.
Jesse: Lexa--
Lexa: My life, my risk.

Adam: There's 300 feet of rock above you. I don't think you have that kind of time.
Lexa: If you're gonna keep popping up like this, you really should start wearing a bell.
Adam: You remember when I first brought you here, I told you there was a point at which your independence became a liability. The safest place for you is right in here. Let the others handle this.
Lexa: You gave up the right to advise us when you abandoned Mutant X.
Adam: I didn't abandon anything.
Lexa: Really? They've been through hell this past year! Where were you?
Adam: I'm sorry I couldn't have been here for you when your brother passed away.
Lexa: I don't know what kind of game you're playing here, Adam. But Mutant X doesn't need you anymore, and you know what? I never did.
Adam: All that matters to me is that you need them. I worked back channels to have you inserted here, not so that you could save them, but so that they could save you from what you were becoming.
Lexa: Well, you wasted your time. Thanks to this thing, I'm back to my old tricks.
Adam: There's a chance we can change that. Jesse lied to you. He let his feelings for you cloud his judgement. There's a chance, a small chance, that I can remove the implant, all right? BUT it's risky, and you have to trust me.
Lexa: Do me a favor. Hold your breath on that one.
Adam: Fine. I can't force you to let me help. But the offer still stands.

The Voice: Mr. Kilmartin.
Jesse: What? Who? How did you--
The Voice: No time for eloquent questions.
Jesse: What is that?
The Voice: Profiles on each of the doctors responsible for Project Nine. It's the last help I can offer her. I just hope it's enough.
Jesse: What do you mean by that?
The Voice: If Lexa takes any further aaction against The Dominion, I won't be able to hide it from them. In plain English, Mr. Kilmartin, she will be terminated!
Jesse: All right. Now you go tell the Dominion that if they go near Lexa or any member of my team, I will become a threat to their survival.

Jesse: Are you okay?
Lexa: No, Jess, I'm not. Having someone inside my head, knowing he can make me do whatever he wants...I refuse to be that powerless. I won't.
Jesse: Hey. You're about the least powerless woman I know. Any more powerful, and I'll have to buy you a cape.
Lexa: Let me out of here, Jess.
Jesse: I can't. Look, I just spoke to your contact with the Dominion. If you attack and get caught one more time--
Lexa: I know, they'll kill me.
Jesse: Yeah.
Lexa: I'm too dangerous to them like this. You know what, they'll find out eventually, so I guess dead if you do, dead if you don't.
Jesse: Hey, I am never gonna let that happen. [she kisses him] What was that?
Lexa: That was goodbye.

Guard: Freeze! Don't move!
Brennan: You got this?
Shalimar: Oh, yeah.
Guard: I said freeze!
Shalimar: I don't know about the odds here, boys. Hardly seems fair.

Brennan: You just killed the only chance we had of fixing you.
Lexa: I'm working just fine.

Adam: Jesse, we have to do this!
Jesse: Adam, you have a way of turning up when I least wanna see you. You shouldn't have told her. You knew she'd want to take the risk.
Adam: It's hers to take. Jesse, caring for someone means telling them all truths. Even the ones you want to protect them from. It took me a long time to learn that.
Jesse: But you still haven't. You want to help? Try putting yourself out there. [Adam touches him]
Adam: That's exactly what I'm doing.
Shalimar: Oh my god. It's really you this time.
Brennan: This time? Yeah, well I guess we're all really good at keeping your secrets, huh?
Shalimar: Why now?
Adam: Lexa.
Jesse: The surgical procedure. You're thinking it will work with the two of us. Well, will it? Are you sure?
Adam: I'm sure it's her only chance. Trust me.
Brennan: Well, that's the issue, isn't it?

Lexa: Jess? If this doesn't work, kill Gonsalves for me.
Jesse: Don't worry. You can kill him yourself.

Brennan: Look, Shalimar, Lexa's gonna be fine. We're all fighting for her now.
Shalimar: Sometimes that isn't enough.
Brennan: Well, I think we should be worried about what happens after the surgery. Jess said the Dominion sent a bunch of assassins after her.
Shalimar: What? And they think we're just gonna let that happen?
Brennan: They think it's the only way to stop her. Jess said they won't bend on it.
Shalimar: Yeah, we'll see about that.

The Voice: My hands are tied. Lexa is a threat to us.
Shalimar: She's risked her life for you countless times! You owe her more than this.
Brennan: All we're asking is that you call off your dogs.
The Voice: The assassins are already on her trail. You're the ones who let Lexa out to kill again, leaving proof of her crimes. If you're looking to assign blame, look to yourselves.
Brennan: Then meet us halfway, all right? Buy us some time. She wasn't in control of herself.
The Voice: And I am not in control of them. I cannot stop this.

Jesse: Adam, it's building up too fast.
Adam: Stay calm. We can do this.
Jesse: Computer, what's happening?
Adam: Status?
Computer: Approaching nervous system overload.
Jesse: Adam, what do we do?
Adam: Stay calm.
Jesse: It's not working.
Computer: Blood pressure falling.
Jesse: The implant had detected us; it's flooding her synapses. It's killing her! Adam, this is what happened before. We're losing her.
Adam: Jesse, sit down. Jesse, don't stop!
Jesse: We've gotta get it out of her now.
Adam: Her system can handle the stress--
Jesse: I've been through this! If we wait, she will die.
Adam: Jesse, this is not a simulation.
Jesse: Computer, sever primary nerve connection now!
Adam: Computer, abort!

Lexa: How'd we do?
Jesse: Well, you weren't much help. But we were unbelievable.

Shalimar: Why are you leaving?
Adam: Because I made myself a target as soon as I came here. Now my enemies know I'm alive.
Shalimar: What about Lexa? It isn't over.
Brennan: He doesn't care.
Adam: You're right, Brennan. That's exactly why I came here, putting myself in personal danger, because I don't care.
Brennan: Like the danger you put us in when you abandoned us?
Adam: You were ready.
Brennan: We were scared. Whatever was going on, whatever your big secret was, you didn't just run from me. You ran from us, and that's what I can't forgive.
Shalimar: Brennan, stop it!
Brennan: No. We buried him, and he let us. That's sick.
Shalimar: He didn't mean it.
Adam: It's okay.
Shalimar: Are we gonna see you again?
Adam: If I'm lucky.

Lexa: Boy, you guys really do give up easy.
Jesse: Woah, no, no, no, no. You should be in bed.
Lexa: I was. Until this woke me. Guess who's trying to reach out and touch somebody.
Brennan: Can you use that to track the signal back?
Jesse: Now that it's out of her, hell yeah.
Lexa: Good. Because once you find him, I'm going along for the clean up.
Shalimar: No. No, you're too weak. You need some time to heal.
Lexa: Not until I make him pay. After everything he did to me, I need this, Shal, okay?
Brennan: This is crazy. The Dominion knows as much about that implant as we do. They probably have their assassins tracking the signal right now.
Shalimar: So let 'em. Everybody wants a piece of Lexa? Let's make sure there's enough of her to go around.

Shalimar: That's a big knife. Compensating for something?

Brennan: They just never want to stay down.
Shalimar: Took ya long enough. You're getting rusty.

John Gonsalves: What are you doing here? Did you finish the job?
Jesse: Yeah, about that. She quit.
John: What's this? What did you do?
Lexa: Aw. Sorry, Doc. This puppet's cut her strings.

John Gonsalves: Don't be rash, Lexa. We could still enjoy a profitable partnership. All of us.
Lexa: Pass. But I'm about to enjoy the hell out of the next ten seconds. [she punches him]
John: You should be thanking me. When Eckhart brought you to me, you were just an average operative. Under my control, you became a virtuoso of violence.
Lexa: I disagree. [she punches him] I was never average.
Brennan: Ten points.
Lexa: First installment for the Dominion. I always pay my debts. All of them.

Adam: Brennan was right. I abandoned you. But I had my reasons, and it's time you heard them.
Brennan: We're listening.
Adam: During the last year that we were together, I became aware of certain factions that were working against us. But I wasn't quite sure who our enemy was until recent events confirmed my suspicions. Our enemy is the Dominion.
Lexa: What are you talking about?
Adam: All the plagues that you've stopped, all the genetic research that you've gathered for them, there's a faction within the Dominion that has been diverting all this for their own secret agenda.
Shalimar: You mean for this past year we've been fighting for the wrong side? Adam, how could you let us do that?
Adam: 'Cause I didn't know the whole truth--'cause I didn't know how deep the corruption went because I didn't know who to trust.
Lexa: You mean me? You didn't know if you could trust me?
Jesse: So why come back at all? You say all the secrecy's been for our own good.
Brennan: He needs something from us. Don't you?
Adam: This year's been hard on all of us. But Mutant X hasn't just survived, you've thrived. And I come to you now because I think you're ready.
Jesse: Ready for what?
Adam: For war. This new face of the Dominion threatens everything we stand for, everything we've ever stood for. Forget Ashlocke, you can forget Eckhart, this would be a war unlike any we've ever fought. It would be a war that I'm not ever sure that we could win. But I am sure that I don't control Mutant X anymore. So it's up to you.
Brennan: What if we say yes?
Adam: As long as I'm on the run, you're not the focus. By making myself a target, that's the only way that I can protect you.
Jesse: Adam, there's got to be another way.
Adam: There isn't.
Shalimar: We just found you. We can't lose you again.
Adam: You won't. Look, leaving Mutant X was the hardest thing I've ever done. You're not just my life's work, you are my life. I'll risk everything to protect you.
